RedHawk Cup Qualifications
The season-long points system is based on a few things. First, each member receives 10 participation points for each tourney played to help encourage participation. Members also receive 20 points for the two day tourneys - Club Championship and Member Guest. Member Guest points are based on current members bringing non-members as guests. It is not encouraged that members play with members and a modification of points earned for this tourney is likely to occur. Second, members earn points based on their finishing position within the 7 qualifying tournaments. A member earns a point for every member (RedHawk Cupeligible member) they beat in competition. For example, the player with the lowest gross score will earn 100 points, with second place earning 99 points and so on. In addition to these points, each member earns the additional 10 participation points. Therefore, a first place finish would earn 110 points, a second place would earn 109 points and so on.
Of the 7 qualifying tourneys, overall scores will be based on the four best scores from those 7 tourneys. Meaning any player can have a poor tourney or two and still have sufficient points to earn a spot on the RedHawk Cup team. The 7 qualifying tourneys are the non-team events and previously had been referred to as LG/LN tourneys. Since those names have been changed, they are the Club Championship (2 rounds), the Ugly Green Jacket, the RHR International, The RHR Open, The RHR Players, and the RHR Invitational.
The 32 members are selected as follows: the top 12 gross finishers in points; the top 15 net finishers in points, and the 5 Match Play winners. In case a member finishes in the top 12 gross AND top 15 net, the member will be selected on his highest position of the two lists. For example, if a member is third overall gross but second overall net, that member will be selected for a net position since that is his highest qualification position. The overall list of points (standings) will be posted to the website on a regular basis. In addition, in case of ties for either a Captain or Asst. Captain position or for a regular position, the tie breaker will be as follows: 1) Club Championship position; 2) Day 2 score of Club Championship 3) Scorecard playoff on Day 2 of CC (back 9, back 6, then last 3). It should be noted that the Captains will be the top two players in the gross standings while the Asst. Captains will be the top two players on the net standings. If any member cannot attend, then the selection goes to the next person eligible.
